Default The Holy Ditz Trinity :: 5/2, Marcheline, Rosamund, Deirdre, Afternoon

The day was just beautiful! It was only a few days before the ball but Marcheline was sure that this was going to be fun! Her mother was about somewhere since they had to have supervision. But the markets of Belleile was just like she remembered from her childhood except they didn't seem as big as before. Someone told her everything always seemed more grand when you were a child.

“Do you like this one? I think it would look lovely on you!” She pointed towards a green gown that had a few little blue accents. It certainly wasn't entirely House Faeralds colors entirely but it would have suited Deirdre well. It will bring out your eyes so much! Oh Deirdre I hope you didn't mind Lady Rosamund coming along...she's from House Alysworth!” She suddenly stopped however when she saw just what she was looking for.

One of the city guard was certainly very handsome. “Oh my! Deirdre, Rosamund look!” She pointed to the man that took off his helmet and was washing his very dark hair with water. It was a rather warm day. “He looks so strong!” She giggled. “I don't think I've ever seen eyes that were that blue...” She sighed dreamily, imagining his arms around her as he rode up on a stallion to carry her away. “I think he's maybe even more handsome than the King.”

"Of course I'm familiar with Rosamund!" Deirdre beamed. "We're both Caelish, and old friends at that." Marchie and Rosie! She hadn't thought of the combination before, but in retrospect, it was truly quite perfect that the two had met. She was certain they must get along wonderfully. "How nice, that we all know one another!" Her first foray into Belleile was off to a grand start.

At her lively new friend's urging, she inspected the fabric of the dress she'd pointed out. "You're too kind, Marchie! It is a lovely shade, but I wear green so often! Maybe something else with blue though..." She was skimming the fabrics, eyes narrowed in careful study, when her attention was already being redirected elsewhere.

"The guard?" Her brow furrowed, as if she expected some noble lord to be standing behind the man. "I suppose he is handsome," she commented, peering out at him. Marchie was so forward about such things! It was one of the things Deirdre had liked about her, after all. She was by no means a demure girl herself, but among these two, she was certainly in bold company. "I wouldn't even compare him to the king though. He's a guard! He doesn't shine like King Adrien does." She giggled, poking Marcheline's arm. "I'll admit that he's not a poor sight though, even from here."

It was simply wonderful that Marchie and Deirdre knew each other already. Rosamund had thought that going on this shopping trip with her newest friend would have been splendid enough, but Deirdre too? She had practically squee'ed.

Moving through the stalls, Marchie picked out a green colour that she thought would suit Deirdre quite well. Rosamund agreed, although she'd never wear much in the way of green, herself. It would clash far too much with her gorgeous red hair! And Rosa, amongst other things, was quite talented and prissy about properly co-ordinating her clothes. She was toying with some of the fabrics herself, and marveling over the variety of colours, when Marchie pointed out that they should look at one of the guards.

"Marchie! No one can be more handsome than the King!" Rosa half scolded, half teased, although on better inspection... yes, he really was a nice sight.

"My brother has blue eyes like that. He likes dazzling girls with them." She went on to giggle, leaning over to clutch Deirdre's arm. "You remember Valen?" But then, she was becoming distracted all too quickly once again, her brother's blue eyes fading from her mind. After all, she would much rather think of the guard than her sibling. Even if Valen was the best brother in the world.

"Marchie, you should go talk to him!!" The redhead then urged, still laughing as she wondered whether the other girl would prove quite audacious enough.

"Valen? Oh, of course I remember him." At the idea of him dazzling girls, Deirdre wrinkled her nose a little, giggling. She supposed he was handsome - perhaps even very much so - but he was hardly even a man in her mind, simply an old friend. It was much easier to picture laughing and playing games with him than ever being dazzled by him. That was the sort of thing he did to other ladies, to her he was an amusing companion.

Besides, far more interesting things were going on at the moment, like what his sister had just said. Deirdre gasped aloud at her suggestion, looking down at her and exclaiming, "Rosamund!" How daring! Soon enough though, she was caught up in the idea herself, and joined her in egging on Marchie. "You could find an excuse to get him to come over here! After all, it's a royal guard's duty to help out ladies such as ourselves," she added, teasing.

Marchie should have remembered the Alysworths were bannermen to the Faeralds. She hadn't been paying attention to the tutor at the time. “Oh! I had forgotten both your families were Caelish. Silly me...I never paid much mind in my lessons of histories of all the families.” As a lady of a province family she was highly educated but Marcheline sticked more to her lessons on sewing and dance than anything else. “The King isn't all that handsome. Not compared to a Knight.” She fawned practically over the man that was outside getting a drink.

“Your brother has blue eyes like that? Really? Have I seen him before?” She asked Rosamund, smiling at her before her attention went back to the guard. “Oh I would do anything to have those arms around me! We need another tourney so I can give him my favor!” She sighed. “I think this blue would look best on you then Deirdre.” Marchie went to go pick a fabric in the color of the sky. “It is quite light and will do well with your skin and your lips, if you paint them.”

She needed to find something for Rosamund. “And you, you will look perfect in purple! Fontenot colors. Only fitting for a real future Queen.” She giggled at the thought but then talking to the man! “Do..do you think I should? My mother is right there! Perhaps I should just kiss him to see if he kisses as good as the King.”

"I don't think so..." Rosamund answered Marchie's query, her blue eyes narrowing ever so slightly in thought. "Would you like to? He would like that, I think. He likes spending time with pretty girls, and you're much prettier than some of the ones he talks with." The girl nodded, perfectly certain about that.

But enough about her brother! Now was the time to focus on that Knight, and Marchie kissing him. Deirdre seemed to support the idea, which only made it seem even more like good sense.

"Yes. Yes you should!" Rosamund half-giggled, half instructed in the boldest possible voice she could muster. Which wasn't overly convincing, given that she couldn't keep the laughter from stealing out. "You still need to kiss the King as well. Else how could you possibly compare them?"

In any case, Marchie still seemed a hair doubtful, and since Rosamund was such a good friend, she decided to start things off for her.

"Ohhhh, Sir Knight!" She called to the man, waving a kerchief boasting the Alysworth colours in the air. Any moment now, he would simply have to come over. They were all three of them highborn ladies, after all!

"Oh!" Deirdre lit up at the sight of the pale blue, rushing over to it and trailing her fingertips across the fabric. She took a moment to admire the silk while Rosamund told Marchie about Valen. "He's very lively, it makes him a good deal of fun to spend time with," she remarked idly, attention still directed to the sky blue swatch. She would have to keep this piece in mind once the excitement was over.

She looked back up, turning to the others. "Goodness, Marchie! You'll balk at talking to the man, but you don't mind kissing him?" Deirdre laughed at that, peering curiously out at the knight. Future queen? Still need to kiss the king? This topic was quick to grab Deirdre's interest. But before she could remark on it, Rosamund was calling the knight over.

She gasped, then quickly made a point to regain composure, smoothing her skirts and holding her head high. Nothing scandalous happening here, just a trio of maids casually calling over a goodlooking guard...

Cian ni Charra was having a good day, as days went. The weather was clear, the city was peaceful, and everyone around him seemed taken with good feelings of their own, which went a long way in making life decent for the people surrounding. He had a decent Watch today, too -- in the daylight, for once, which meant that things were a little lighter. Day guards had more opportunity for leisure.

He was more used to night work, though, which meant that the sun's warmth was taking a toll. Cian was quick to remove his helmet as soon as he was relieved, letting cool water soothe the heat and sweat brought by the celestial rays. At first this was the only thing on his mind, sunlight and water and the free air, but as the blessed water began to dry the young guard noticed something.

Well, three things, actually.

He smiled and dried his face on his arm, then gestured a comrade over. "Hey, Tom."

The way Cian saw it, there were good guards and bad guards. He'd borne the city's standard long enough to know which was which; Thomas Mochrie was a good guard right the way through. He was also a blond giant made of muscle and easy smiles, in other words, the perfect companion for three pretty little ladies plainly looking for fun. Tom's head poked around the corner to regard his friend, although his motion made it clear he'd been interrupted while adjusting his breastplate. "Eh?"

Cian's smile broadened, and he simply nodded his head once to the girls clustered by a maid waving her house colors. "They want the city guard."

Tom laughed, but that was that. By this time the men were friends enough to not need many explanations, so in two steps they were in line, walking side-by-side to bow in unison. Tom was already of a merry nature and so his smile illuminated his face, but Cian adopted a gentler expression with only those blue eyes crinkled in amusement as he rose from his bow. "May I assist you, my Lady?"

Marcheline sighed thinking about Lucius before her mind went back to reality. She was shopping! She needed to not be so daydreaming when she was picking out her dress! “Me meeting your brother? Perhaps...but another-” She suddenly got distracted at Deirdre's words. “Yes! I mean...kissing doesn't exactly involving talking.” She giggled.

She turned pink entirely when Rosamund waved her handkerchief. “Rosamund! You'll draw attention to us!” But suddenly it was too late. The men had walked over. Marcheline was blushing furiously. But she knew what to do. All the knights in The Hollows she had talked with made this seem easy. “Oh yes! We could use your help sir knight.” Marcheline giggled.

“You see my friends and I are picking out fabrics for our dresses for the ball in a few days and we need to know which ones look best. What do you think?” She looked over at Rosamund and Deirdre. “So which do you like best? And do be honest!”

"Kissing can be better than talking... but it depends on who is doing the kissing." Rosamund nodded, sharing her incredibly deep words of wisdom with her friends. "But that knight is so handsome... he must be a good kisser!" She giggled softly as the knight started walking over, responding to her fairly fervent summons. Leaning over towards Deirdre, she happily shared something else. "Don't worry, Marchie will find out!"

And then the knight was there, looking all dashing and knightly. Rosa kept the laughter from sounding on her lips, and put on her prettiest little pout. At Marchie's words, she swung the fabric she was holding dramatically against her slender frame. Deirdre, of course, was more than welcome to do the same.

Deirdre beamed at the knight, cheerful as ever. She quickly grabbed the sky blue swatch of silk from before, taking Rosamund's cue and holding it in front of her. "Marchie found this gorgeous fabric, but I don't wear this shade often, so I've no idea if I'll be able to put it off." She smiled brightly, as if this wasn't at all a ridiculous thing to request of a guard. It was difficult to refrain from bursting into laughter.

Marcheline gave a giggle for the knight and motioned for him to come closer. “See do you not think this goes with my eyes?” She held up a piece of purple fabric that matched her skin tone quite nicely. It was a Fontenot color, her mother's house. Sometimes Marchie wondered if her life would have been very different if she had been born a Fontenot instead of a DeLauncey. “You sir are one of the most handsome men I've seen!” She giggled at the knight but then gasped at Deirdre's words.

“Of course you can pull it off! It would look so lovely on you.”

The Knight looked back and forth between all the girls, grinning.

“I think you ladies could wear whatever you wished.” Oh no, he was surrounded by giggling fools...

Marchie smiled. “But isn't it not lovely enough for it? And Lady Rosamund....what color do you think would look best on her?”

((OOC: I added in a little blarb about the Knight to keep it going. I may go post a NPC post again on the Knight acct so we can keep it going. XD))

"We were thinking the purple." Rosamund grinned, stepping forwards with the material draped across her gown. The knight really was handsome- Rosa was half tempted to try kissing him herself!

"We would be so delighted if you could help us choose!" If only because that would make him stick around... and that way, they could eye him even more!

"Oh, you must help, Sir Knight," Deirdre urged, grinning innocently. "We can't decide without your help!" She set the blue cloth down, quickly skimming the nearby selection. She had little particular interest in this knight (even though he was quite handsome!), but this was starting to feel like an amusing little game. How could she resist?

"Rosie found that purple gown, but..." She lifted another, of soft, muted gold silk, and rushed to Rosamund's side, holding it next to the other dress. "I think this one would make her beautiful red hair absolutely gleam! Don't you agree? Rosie has such pretty hair..." She watched him expectantly, hoping he'd take her cue.

Cian and Tom watched the three girls in amusement, mirth shining in both sets of blue eyes. Cian was the elder of the two and more inclined to find these naive noblewomen sweet instead of funny, but Tom wasn't such a bad soul either and he gave a merry laugh at Marcheline's compliment. "Well, thank you, mi'lady. But maybe you ought to look a little more."

The self-depraving joke was just Tom's style; Cian simply bowed in recognition. There was no way of knowing which of them the little brunette was calling "the handsomest man she'd ever seen", but ultimately it didn't really matter. They could have fun with this -- at least a little, and then with any luck turn it to something more harmless. "I'm not certain why you ladies think two clodpole knights would be the best for helping you choose dresses for your lordlings, but we are happy to oblige. Or at least, I am. Tom has no taste."

Tom rolled his eyes, smirking. "Not for clothes anyway."

Cian resisted the urge to elbow his comrade, instead stepping down the row of women as if he were a general conducting inspection. "The problem with dresses is that they are gilding the lily, as it were; three such lovely little roses would look as sweet in petals of red or pink or yellow. But in my opinion: Lady Scarlet will look striking in gold. Lady Coquette, while she would look lovely in purple," here he gave Marcheline an approving look, "I think would be stunning in red. And Lady Loyal, pretty as she is in the sky's blue, should choose a shade just a little deeper so all attention goes to her eyes." He became more serious then, raising an eyebrow at them all. "Now how will you thank me for my advice?"

Oh the man was just absolutely handsome and ever so charming! Both the men were. She really should have had a favor to leave with them but with her mother standing only a little ways away she knew that she'd get a lecture. Marchie loved knights. They were absolutely daring and bold. They rode their steeds with such elegance she almost wish she could do the same until she realized horses were smelly and ruined her dresses. They also had to be fed a ton. But gold would look pretty on Rosamund...

“Gold, scarlet and blue. Well you are a man who knows fashion.” She giggled. But what about his reward. She looked between Deirdre and Rosamund. What could they give him? “Well good sirs what would to ask of three pretty maidens? A kiss perhaps?” She had to take Rosamund's advice and kiss all the boys to see if they did kiss better than Lucius. “A kiss is a fair trade I think! Or even a dance.” She giggled once more and moved to give Cian a kiss upon the cheek. “See. Fitting isn't it?” She turned to her two friends.

“A kiss from all of us?”

A knight with a flair for fashion? How grand! Rosamund knew that she would look beautiful in any colour, but she did like gold. And he was right! She would look striking!

He asked for some means of thanks, however, and Rosa listened as Marchie listed off a couple of possibilities. A kiss from them all did seem bold, but then that was why they had spoken to him! Marchie especially needed to kiss as many handsome young men as she could!

Hopefully the knight would say yes, and agree that Marchie's offer was a fair trade. Rosamund waited, quite anxious to see.
