She could scarcely believe that she had been here for over a month now, but, well, she had. Glodhet had become her new home, and whilst she was still becoming accustomed to certain nuances of it- assassins notwithstanding- she found that she was settling in just fine. Of course, it helped being able to maintain something of a sunny disposition in face of being so far away from home, but she tried not to think about that one too much. Elysia missed her siblings something fierce, and even her father, now that he had granted her forgiveness for what she had done.

Settling down in the gardens by one of the fountains, Elysia had every intention of trying to put to paper some of the beauty of Whitecourt's architecture, following which she would send some sketches home. Aelina... Serenna... She'd promised them both such a thing, and would certainly not go back on that now.

It was just another stroll past the gardens as he made his way towards the castle gates, but a familiar set of tools caught Lanius Shadowmere's eye. Was someone... drawing? Right here in Gora? And not just someone, his cousin's very beautiful, very blonde new wife; The Lady Shadowmere. When he thought it over, he hadn't spoken with her much outside of the pleasantries she was due. For one thing, he'd been busy with his sisters and the mess that Ren had started them on planning. For another, he had a hard time resisting pretty women, and messing with any girl who belonged to Lazarus was more danger than he was willing to risk.

That was before he'd known she was an artist, of course. That would change everything.

A lifetime living in Faeta had given him some skill in masking the sound of his approach. Quietly and careful, he slid behind her to watch as she worked for a few moments on the lines. Once he had seen a brief hint of her technique, he could no longer hold back his commentary.

"You sketch well, milady. Did they teach you that in Vadra? I thought they would have focused more on sums, to count all that gold." He took a step forward, so as not to be lurking behind her even after speaking. "Do you remember me? There are so many of us Shadowmeres, I wouldn't blame you for forgetting. It'll be worse when he takes you back to Faeta, though," he told her with a joking grin.

Elysia had not heard Lanius approach, and she started a little at his words, before relaxing somewhat, as she recognised his face as being familiar.

"Well, yes, they are. So much time is spent counting the gold that there is scarcely time left for pursuing hobbies." She smiled, laughter in her eyes. "But no, I taught myself. I thank you for your compliment, but I would like to be much better." And whilst she thought she had improved quite a bit since she had started, there was still some room for improvement, in her eyes. "Are you a fan of the arts as well?"

When he asked if she remembered her, Elysia gave the query some thought. She had met a goodly number of Lazarus' family since her initial arrival here, though the better part of that had been little more than pleasantries. Ren? Lanius? Certainly not Gespard... or for that matter, Athena or Belle. Elysia ventured to go with her gut feeling, and venture an educated guess. "Lanius, is it?" She opted, hoping she was right. "It isn't a problem, really... The Ashpool family is so large, sometimes it is difficult remembering who you are even related to." And all of them beautiful and blonde... She recalled fondly how Serenna had darkened her hair, in order to better stand out.

Offering Lanius a small smile, Elysia bade him sit. "So, what is so bad about Faeta? Aside from the multitude of Shadowmeres?" If that truly could be described as 'bad.' For all their quirks, they had proven pleasant and welcoming enough people thus far.

"A fan? No, not at all. I am much more than that. You might say that art is the very reason I draw breath, the very thing I was made for. But that's putting it simply," he told her with a grin.

He gestured with his hand to show she'd gotten the answer right. "Very good, milady. Yes, Lanius, of the third and final branch am I. An unfortunate soul with too many well-accomplished siblings. They all make me look bad in comparison. I've heard you have quite a few yourself, isn't that right?" He took the seat near her, straddling the bench and taking a closer look at the sketch. He laughed at her assessment of Faeta. "Correct again. We're horrid, you'll see. But as long as you don't mind the scoundrels and the odd-looking folk cavorting about, Faeta's not bad. I'd much rather be there than stuck on the mainland where they're all so stuffy all the time... Oh, no offense meant."

"So... by your explanation I would guess that you are an artist of some kind?" Elysia quirked a brow softly, before her features broke down into an honest smile. Lanius certainly seemed... intense. Although not in a bad way. In an... entertaining way? Perhaps that was it, yes.

"Five sisters and two brothers." She affirmed at her company's statement. "It's quite the crowd, really. And all of us blond and beautiful... one of my sisters even dyed her hair black in an effort to set herself apart." Oh, dear Serenna... Elysia missed her, even if she was into funny looking mushrooms sometimes.

"So, you are saying that without the people here, Faeta would be perfect?" She laughed, clearly chiding Lanius' comments concerning the Shadowmere homeland. "And my stuffiness has most certainly been offended. In recompense, I would like to see some of your own art. Else, I might think to unleash the full force of my stuffiness upon you, courtesy of the mainland." After all, one had to have pride.

Lanius bowed with a ridiculous flourish that would have made his father cuff him and drag him off for a beating. It was nice to finally be around people who weren't so damned serious all the time. They'd been very lucky; Lazarus could have gotten stuck with a boring wife, but this one didn't seem so bad.

"I am, my lady. A purveyor of paints and portraits, charcoal and canvas. I dabble in ink as well, but that's mostly for my cousin's sake," he answered with a ridiculous grin. He would normally made some thinly-veiled comment about the skill of his handiwork, but he didn't fancy losing his head anytime soon.

He gave a low whistle to show he was impressed. "That beats me, I'm afraid. Only three brothers and two sisters." He looked a bit hurt as he continued. "Oh, my lady, five beautiful blonde sisters and you didn't bring any unwed ones here with you? You must summon them immediately! Our parties are much better than the ones they throw on the mainland, anyway."

Lanius brought a hand to his mouth, as though he had said something terrible. "Oh no, it's lovely, really. It's freedom, at least. That's beauty in and of itself." He gave her look of pain and clutched his hand to his heart. "I am so sorry. Will you ever forgive me? Of course I'll show you my work. But I hope you won't be too bored with it. I don't care much for stone and masonry, however fine the work is. No, I'm interested more in human subjects... If that sort of thing doesn't offend your taste, I would gladly introduce you to my studio in Faeta."

"I apologise for neglecting to being any along." Elysia replied, a hint of laughter evident upon her lips. "I have a couple in mind who would adore the parties, but alas we are all of us married or betrothed." Their father was apparently a fan of fast work. "I suppose, though, that being betrothed is not exactly the same as being wed..." She left that thought to drift and dissipate into the warm open air. It was probably better not to think about such things, for all that she was merely jesting, now.

"In any case, I agree. The parties here are far more interesting. Far less boring. I love the dances, and I imagine something should be said about the dresses, too." She had originally considered the ladies' fashions here to be bordering on taboo. Now, she had come to enjoy their tightness, and lacy-ness, and scandalous...ness. The only thing she still had trouble with on occasion was the heat.

In any case, Lanius agreed to her terms of apology, and Elysia clapped her hands together, at once victorious and delighted. The man was proving to be fun company, and she was looking forwards to seeing the works of another artist. At his words, however, she gave a rather questioning look, bringing the fingers of one hand upwards to cradle the side of her face.

"Human subjects? But why would that offend m- oh." She then paused, as something of realisation hit home.

"Doesn't that sort of thing get you into trouble?" She queried, although her countenance revealed more a picture of honest curiosity, than disgust.
