Cidney had just gotten the news of Rosalie's complete lack of ... common sense! She marched through each parlor, storming through rooms and halls, searching Rosa out. She wasn't sure exactly what she had planned for her when she found her, but it didn't matter, she'd figure it out when she found Rosalie.
Finally, she walked through the door of the fifth parlor she searched and there, curled up on a couch in front of the fire place was Rosalie. Slamming the door behind her, Cidney marched through the room and stood in front of Rosalie. She put her hands on her hips and glared right at the girl before her. She was forced on Christopher by the King right? Some things just weren't adding up. "So what I hear is true? You're a rat?" |

Rosalie had been doing the same thing for hours: knitting something (probably a blanket, but it was really just something for her hands to be doing) and staring into the fire. She missed spinning her own yarn, but since becoming Lady of the house she was discouraged from doing that sort of work. Not that it would ultimately stop her, but for now she didn't have the energy to fight it. She didn't have the energy for much, really. It was hard to even remember to move her legs so her feet didn't go numb. After last night, and her forced proclaimation this morning...her inner battles and struggles were sapping her energy.
She didn't even hear the door open, but the slam made her jump and go immediately pale, automatically expecting something awful. And, from the look on Cidney's face, she wasn't too far off. Rosalie had felt like she and Cidney were becoming friends, which was a big step considering how she'd been warned of Cid's...well, prickliness. But now the woman looked like anything but her friend, anger and disappointment in her expression. How Cidney had found out she had no idea. Christopher had said he wasn't going to tell the whole family! And sure, she'd made the proclaimation earlier today separating herself from her church, but that didn't make her a rat, did it? She cringed at the accusation, but shook her head. "I don't know where you heard it, but I promise you I've made no move against your family." |

Rosalie was just sitting there before her, knitting by the fire. Her eyes burned as she looked upon the woman who took her place at her cousin's side. She was staring right down at Rosa but her hands slid down from her hips. She was becoming exasperated with this family and all the drama that followed.
"So then tell me one thing. You said you were sent here to find out certain things about Christopher, to report back to the Urson about him. Were you actually going to do it?" She closed her eyes and finished her thought. "Were you really planning to tell Mason Lennox everything you found out about my cousin?" |

Rosalie looked at the woman confronting her, choosing her words carefully. To tell the truth, Cidney scared Rosa more than most members of this family...she had a bit of a reputation, and if that hadn't been enough, it looked like she could very well kill a person just with her eyes. But, really, Rosalie had gotten herself into this situation...so she deserved whatever came of it.
"I was not, no," she said, her voice quiet. "Even if it wasn't against everything I think is right to do what the Urson is asking of me, even if I cared nothing for Christopher and his family....I never could have done what was demanded of me." She wouldn't correct Cidney on the nature of her mission; better she think Rosalie was just supposed to report everything to the Urson than know that she'd really been tasked to frame him. |

Cidney stared at the girl for a few moments, then even longer. It would have registered as an uncomfortable silence if she wasn't so lost in her thoughts. So this girl sat here before her and with all her motivation, she couldn't cross the room to slap her.
It was a combination of everything that had been happening over time that Cid had this feeling in her heart and knew that Rosalie was telling her the truth. She flopped down in the chair behind her and slouched a bit more then she should have. "Rosalie. I believe you." she heaved a sigh. "Don't ask me why, but I do." she added with a scowl to let her know they weren't on girl talk levels just yet. "That Urson, there's something with him. Not too long ago I would see him and get just a little hot and bothered but now he's just all sorts of crazy. I don't blame you for feeling threatened." She shrugged and looked towards the fire. "He still blames Chris for killing Odelia doesn't he?" |

It seemed like an eternity that she sat and waited for Cidney to do something...anything. Anything other than stare at her. Even if she crossed the room and slapped her, punched her, something other than stare. When she did move it took effort for Rosalie to not flinch or cringe in anticipation for a blow that never came. Instead Cid looked resigned, but no happier.
She listened to her speak and then nodded sadly. "He does. He..." she shook her head. "I don't know anymore. I used to think that he was just blaming the closest person, so deep was his pain and anger...but he's a different man now. I don't even know who he is anymore. He's certainly not the man I promised to follow." |

Cid found herself nodding as Rosalie spoke, understanding where her pain was coming from. It had to have been hard for her to get these orders. Not because she felt bad for betraying Chris, no Cid wasn't that naive, but because the woman had trusted the Urson once and he tossed her away like a used tool.
"What do you plan to do if the Urson tries to contact you? Tries to threaten you?" She was hoping that Rosalie would answer her properly. She's a smart girl, and Cidney had hope for her, but Christopher was heading over an emotional hill that she was even terrified of. |

"I...don't quite know yet." She'd been thinking about that since her mind had started working functionally again. "I suppose I have a few options...I could just not say anything to him, act like his letters aren't going through. I could write him false reports. He wouldn't necessarily know the difference, for awhile at least." But it was always just that: for awhile. For now. She was safe...for now. But the danger she was in hung over her like a massive weight, threatening her always. Christopher promised to keep her safe, and she trusted him, but she also knew the Urson. And Bruce. And Ben. The last two had liked her, but they were still bound to the Urson's orders.
"He shouldn't be checking in for some time, though, so there's some time. And I think he's becoming frustrated, because the one letter I sent him had nothing of value in it. I asked him to give me more time, and he's granted it, so I've got at least a little more time to figure out what I want to do. Or rather, to ask Chris what he wants me to do." Because, after all, she wasn't allowed to even really think for herself anymore. Not now, at least. Anything in this matter would be Christopher's doing, and she would simply be the tool by which he worked. |
