House Description:
House Fontenot was founded over 800 years before the uniting of Forsilvra. Raised to banner lords by House Faerald in the old days, House Fontenot grew in power and prestige. Known for their military might, when the Great War broke out, they raised their armies and moved to fight against the invaders that threatened to take down all of Forsilvra.

After the Great War, in which the kingdoms now known as Forsilvra banded together to drive out the invaders of The East. To ensure continued unity, they agreed to unite under one king, who would be located on an island independent of the others. The kingdoms would becoming provinces, which each former king now a sworn lord to the king. Jondé Fontenot, a high ranking noble on Caelain, who had been instrumental in the victory over The East was chosen as the king. He took on Ilsa Fitzwulf of Arbrecht as a wife as a sign of unity.

At first, the rule of House Fontenot was little more than a formality. The provinces each supplied high lords for council and knights to guard the king, but short of a few taxes and minor laws, little was done to consolidate the kingdoms. But as time passed, disputes were brought to the throne for rulings, and stronger laws were past. A military force to protect the castle was added and both castle and town were surrounded by high walls. The island, chosen for it’s rocky beaches, cliffs, and steep slops is not impossible to breach, but able to be defended.

Player Base: Kailey Swanson
Appearance:

Aurora exemplifies her namesake in every way possible. A wisp of a lass, her petite frame along with her height of 5’3” is just the beginning of what make the young princess a natural beauty. Her skin is flawless, with an ivory glow like a porcelain doll that has made many women jealous. On top of that, her hair is a gleaming shade of blond that almost seems like the sun itself came down and kissed her tresses when she was only a babe. With green-blue eyes to top it all off, Aurora could be considered pure perfection when it comes to describing a maiden of the fairest features.

An icon of high-fashion, Aurora dresses herself in the finest of clothes and costumes from all over the lands both domestic and foreign. From formal to funky, she takes getting dressed to a whole new level as tailors and designers visit her chambers on a near-daily basis, measuring her for new dresses, shoes, and other accessories. If cleanliness is close to godliness, and clothes make the man, then royalty should exemplify both to their utmost extreme in her eyes. She could outshine almost any noble at a party even in her most ‘lowly’ of outfits. Decadence: Aurora be thy name.

Personality:
It is without saying that Aurora exemplifies all of the regal qualities of a princess and more. In the public eye she is a charmer, an extroverted and magnanimous individual who always likes to keep a happy disposition wherever she goes. Considering how she presents herself to the court, it’s almost impossible for her to not be the center of attention. There is an intrinsic quality from within that allows her to take problems as they come and tackle them one step at a time. Where others might balk or shy in the face of tribulations, she bravely steps up and faces them head-on. Her physical stature belies her inner strength in spades, and she can be a bold and ballsy princess if a line has been crossed in her eyes. She’ll even toy with men to get what she wants, but when a challenge is met with equal fortitude she plays the shrew and backs away.

She used to be a very sweet and gentile girl until the plague. Now she keeps a stiff upper lip for the sake of public eyes, but her naïve and carefree nature has turned a bit sour to people who are not considered close confidants. Aurora has adopted a bit of a Queen Bee attitude in matters of court and behind the scenes, not hesitating to hand a verbal slap to you in plain view and with a smile on her face at the same time. She commands loyalty to her brother and keeps a shrewd eye on anyone who’s around him for any reason. His Council she holds a particular level of hostility towards because despite the fact that the lords swear their allegiance and fealty, she’s not so stupid as to ignore the in-fighting and the ass-kissing that comes with the territory of placing themselves as favorites in the mind of the king. Especially after having dealt with the plague and the realities came about afterwards, Aurora believes she has to be the voice of reason when Adrien’s heart overrules his head with them.

It’s obvious that she’s always been close to her twin brother, as any set of twins typically are in the own ways. But now that he’s King of Forsilvra and after the events of losing half of her family, she’s become even more coveting of his well-being and affection. She doesn’t like the idea of him getting married for any reason, and any form of separation is usually met with vocal levels of outrage. In regards to her younger brother, Bertram, she’s maintained a level of distance for reasons even she doesn’t quite understand. Sure they all talk together and go about their usual activities, but she doesn’t confide in him like she used to and her attitude towards anything involving him is met with a level of blasé complacency to some regard.

From the scholarly side of things, she’s very well-versed in multiple subjects. She’s not much for mathematics, but she does enjoy the mysteries of science. The culture and arts are more her style, as by proxy of her taste in color and fashion can be a dead giveaway. She excels at languages, and likes studying history and culture. Whenever her tutors bring artifacts in, she’s always the first to take a look at them. It is often said that she was born to be a student of the world, it’s plain as day that she covets the jobs of the ambassadors, as she never stops talking to them about what it’s like to be in their shoes. But she would never stray from Adrien if she wasn’t able to bring him with her, and it’s not a royal’s station anyway, so therein lay two problems. Plus, it’s hard to go schlepping off to other countries in high-fashion attire.

History:
Quote:
Aurora was born a few minutes after her twin, Adrien, on a bright summer day. Even before they could walk the twins were close. In the crib, if placed away from each other, they’d inch together in the night, until their heads were next to each other. They were always touching, lying next to each other, as though the comforts they received in the womb were needed in life. They laughed together. They played together. Two years later a brother came along, followed by a sister when the twins were five. They embraced their siblings, encouraged by their mother to get along, to play, and to grow together. Both parents, despite being king and queen, found time to spend with their children. They read stories and danced, took walks in the garden and trips to the beach.

Then tragedy struck Forsilvra. Laurine was barely a babe when words of plague in the north came sailing in on the white wings of northern dove. For the first few years the capital seemed immune. But trade could not stop. The capital needed food and goods that were imported from other provinces. While they tried to switch to southern merchants and keep careful control on the docks, eventually the plague arrived. The diseased spread slow and the royals and counselors did everything they could to keep it out of the castle, but even that failed.

In 233, the Queen came down with the plague. A year later the King followed, forcing young Adrien to assume to throne. Aurora throughout this time was in a haze of terror and confusion, though she pretends to put on a strong face as best she could for a child. She did not truly understand the implications of what was happening, just knew that her family was broken.

The day his father died, Adrien and his siblings ran off together to the gardens. They found a grove of trees and curled up together, afraid that they would be next. Julius DeLauncey, the House Scholar and their teacher, found them a few hours later. They told him they didn’t want to go back. That the castle was a scary place where people got sick and died and surely there was somewhere they could that would be better. Julius told them their place was in Castle Licorn, there was no for them, but if they wanted to stay in the gardens, he would pitch a tent and they could hunt their food and see how long they lasted. By the next morning they were cold and hungry, and let their teacher escort them back to the warmth and comforts of home. The lesson had been hard, and their fear of the plague didn’t vanish simply because they could not go elsewhere.
It was around this time frame that the bright and happy girl began to go through a series of transformations. Initially she was in denial about a great deal of things that had transpired in regards to the plague and her personal loss, which eventually turned to depression followed by anger. There was a brief point where people didn’t approach Aurora for fear of having something literally thrown at their heads. For a small girl, she packed a powerful throwing arm! It was here that she found the most comfort in the temple of Quintism. With the appropriate counsel she found herself able to piece herself together and try and move past the anger and resentment she felt when the plague took half of her family away. This was also where she eventually found comfort in learning about the art of tarot, a new hobby that she’s been quite intrigued with and continues to practice for fun behind closed doors. But she gained an additional level of paranoia when her merit was to be tested once again.

Quote:
The plague had waned in the capital some, and then came back hard. A cousin succumbed, and finally in 240 her uncle. Aurora once again retreated into her sullenness. She is convinced that the plague will never end, and her greatest fear is her or Adrien dying to it. When Adrien took the crown, she didn’t express disagreement, but Aurora was not happy either. She worries that her brother will be threatened as King or exposed to something and dies as a result.
Writing Sample:

“Three of swords, you’re holding yourself back from what you want most,” Aurora said as she laid out a few more cards to one of the servant girls. When she placed another card down and looked at it, she looked up and quirked an eyebrow at her, “You love someone.”

“Uh…!” the girl’s cheeks turned a bright red and she immediately looked down and continued cleaning the princess’ breakfast table. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Aurora smirked, “It’s not something you’re good at hiding.”

It was then her face became serious and she laid down a few more cards. When she took a look at them more closely, a sensation of relief came over her, “It’s not the King at least. That’s good.”

“Wha?! Princess I would never!”

“Then who is it?” She was curious at the very least. During this time a gentleman dressed from head to toe in ivory silks and an audacious wig came over with a measuring tape. Aurora, without even looking at the man, held her arm out knowing exactly what he needed to do. He wrapped it around her upper arm and then around her elbow before finishing off with the wrist. Afterwards she went back to her cards, “Well?”

The girl gulped a bit and hesitated before she said in a meek tone, “Bernard.”

“Bernard?” It took her a long time to process the name. Eventually she shook her head and looked over her shoulder to one of the head servants and quirked an eyebrow.

The man responded, “The boy who oversees your horses, Princess.”

A burst of laughter came out of her mouth, the tone jingled merrily, “Really now? Bernard the stable boy?” She turned her head to the girl who was practically crimson with embarrassment. Clearly the boy did not know of her affections for him. With a wry smile, Aurora couldn’t help but rub this bit of news in, “Well he’s not much on the eyes in my opinion, but I could…arrange something if you want me to.”

At first the girl blinked, not really knowing how best to respond. Aurora was aware of the fact that commoners feared taking favors from her lest they show any desire for what was offered. So she had to eventually learn to read body language over time. Snapping her fingers, she called the elder servant over and replied back to the girl, “Done. I’ll make sure that Frederick here sets you both up with a team errand tomorrow. Don’t waste the opportunity while I turn the other cheek.”

Frederick bowed and the servant girl tried her best to hide her sheer enthusiasm, “Oh thank you, Princess! Thank you so much!”

At that point Aurora carelessly waved her hand in gesture of forced dismissal of the girl and collected her cards. At this point she was offered a series of fabrics to look through and now her attention was turned elsewhere.
