Name: Lahariel Contact: PM only [Public Application] Character Name: Izlude Feran Occupation: Horn of the Gaian Spear AKAs: Izlude of the Gaian Spear Character Age: 27 Gender: Male Birthday (including year): July 19, 214 - Cancer/Leo Cusp, Born on the Day of the Spark Current Location: Castle Licorne, City of Belleile, Island of Forsilvra Birthplace: The Hollows Player Base: Chris Evans Appearance: ![]() ![]() ![]() Izlude is a very stalwart man, standing at 6’2” with the physique of a warship. It’s quite obvious that he’s not an individual that goes down easy in regards to brute strength and size. His imposing build, however, is softened by his fairer elements in regards to facial features. This blond keeps himself very clean-cut, with dark blue eyes that have often caused many to misleadingly think he’s of a Vandermark house like the de Valle’s given his traits. Personality: Always the gentle, noble soul, Izlude grew up as an individual of non-privilege, but seemed to have been born under lucky stars since his life could have been much worse. He’s an individual that’s always grateful for what he has and doesn’t really pay much attention to what he lacks. Perhaps that is why he stands out in a way that others don’t. A man of simple wants and desires does not covet things that would require a certain level of ambition that’s often marked dangerous to others. As long as there is some place to sleep, food in his stomach, and a purpose, he’s happy. Izlude has no problems flashing that warm, boyish smile and being that protective arm to cry on. But his simple needs doesn’t really match a simple life; and when things get to a level that are over his head, he doesn’t really know what to do about it. In the case of women, for example, he can get along with them just fine until he acquires a certain level of affection for one. Or, worse yet, he encounters a woman who happens to be fond of him and flirtatious or provocative about it. Otherwise, he is very much that knight-in-shining-armor persona that fantasy stories and fables tell them to be. He’s always there for you to lend a hand, defends the weak, and protects what is right and righteous. As a newly adopted Horn of the Gaian Spear, Izlude is more dumbfounded than anything else about why he was chosen. He always revered Sir Harrowgate as the epitome of what he aspired to become in life, but never imagined it would actually happen himself. Izlude plays things ‘by the book’ and takes his position very seriously, not wanting to dishonor the title as well as the memory of Sir Harrowgate before him. The other horns might find his naïve concepts annoying or childish, but Izlude would never turn their back on them regardless of their conceptions. History: Little is known about the background of his familial origins. All that is really known is the fact that Loretta Feran shows up at the Hollows several months pregnant and asks for shelter in exchange for becoming a servant. After she gave birth to her son, life was pretty much a constant struggle for the both of them. Loretta was already tagged as a woman of questionable standards given the fact that she had a bastard child and refused to give the name of the would-be father. Plus, Izlude was the antithesis of his mother in every physical feature imaginable. If it weren’t for the fact that they had seen her give birth to him, they would have never thought the two were even related. The only thing that really matched was the fact that Izlude had the same gentile disposition. But with no father to compare personalities to, it was hard to say that it was a defining factor of any kind. There was no questioning Loretta’s love and devotion for her son. She had him by her side every second of the day. Told him stories, educated him the best she could, and spoke nothing but praise of fact that they were both blessed to have a place to call home. Unfortunately, Loretta’s constitution was diminishing rapidly over a short amount of time, and at the age of five, Izlude found himself an orphan. The other servants of the Hollows managed to find him a place within the castle so that he wouldn’t be tossed out for being useless. People already noticed that he was strong lad for such an age. They sent him to work in the stables before eventually moving on to training quarters to aid in being the caretaker of the supplies, menial stuff that any boy his age could do. It was hard work, but he obliged to it happily, already accustomed to his place in life, and the other female servants around him acted as surrogate mothers to love and protect him. During the age of twelve, Izlude met a young girl named Marie. She was a servant girl of another household, but she was constantly abused and victimized. Izlude met her in the market, and the two just clicked instantly as fast friends. The little free time they had, they spent together. Picking Chocolate Cosmos flowers, a beautiful red-brown color, and telling each other about their dreams and silly stories. Izlude loved her in the best way a child knows how, and the two dreamed of someday marrying each other. But that dream was never to come to pass. As soon as Marie’s master found out about her sneaking away, it came to a violent end for the girl. Izlude found himself banging on the front door as he could hear her screams from inside. As Marie tried to escape, she met a violent end at the door, and all Izlude saw was a small pool of blood creep from underneath the doorframe. When the master opened up, Izlude saw her lying dead on the ground and he had no choice but to run to save himself. Izlude never really forgave himself from not being able to protect Marie, but vowed that he would always try to help others who were unable to help themselves so that they would not end up like her. To this day, Chocolate Cosmos makes him nostalgic to his first childhood love. Eventually time had to move on, as did he. Being a boy of unusual stature, he was easily noticed by some of the other already-selected Horn apprentices. He was picked on for his size mostly because they saw him as a threat as opposed to a weakling. Izlude’s amiable nature made it easy for others to pick on him at whim. However, his noble streak was recognized when one of the apprentices was purposely outmatched by a group of the other apprentices. Izlude jumped in to aid the boy, and managed to defend with the spear quite well for an individual who was never trained. This act of valor was noticed by Sir Percival, who saw promise in the boy just like he did with Dagonet. Squired at fourteen, Izlude’s process of becoming a Horn was arduous and full of difficult trials and tribulations. He worked hard and did what he was told, which sometimes is a troublesome thing when you’re a bit naïve and trust people implicitly to a fault. Often times he’d get into trouble with the other squires because he would go along with pranks they’d play on him, and pretty soon he found himself in a world of trouble. He did befriend the boy he rescued a few years back. Lukas Tilling was also a very strong and talented boy, which is why some of the others felt threatened. The two had that in common, and even though Lukas came from a noble family, it didn’t seem to matter much. Lukas was older and therefore knighted first before Izlude. They entered the tourneys together but Lukas tended to best him, making the older boy a true apprentice first, and filling the ranks of five for a time. But then the plague hit, and Izlude found his best friend die of the black lung in a very gruesome and painful manner. This inadvertently opened up another apprentice position that, by then, Izlude had more than exceeded his merit in the tourneys and with the spear. The rest was history… The recent news of Sir Harrogate’s demise came as a shock to Izlude. Even more surprising was the fact that he found himself as the next successor to the title of Horn of the Gaian Spear. Accepting the position, with great humility, Izlude now begins the process of acclimating to his new role, letting the fates continue to sweep him forward. Writing Sample: The clang of the metal shield reverberated off the stone walls as a body flew back into the haystack and landed with an, “Oooof!” When it didn’t move for a moment, Izlude’s features quickly changed to a look of concern as he set down his spear and shield and went over to help the knight. “Sorry about that, you’ve got to watch when I block.” “Ugh!” the older knight groaned as he let Izlude help him to his feet, “You hit like a warship, lad! These old bones aren’t going to be able to take strikes like that if you keep that up.” “My apologies, Sir.” The man laughed before clapping him on the shoulder, “No need to worry, lad! I’m just bemoaning my age, that’s all.” The two shared a laugh before they were suddenly approached by a squire who was out of breath and looked spooked. “Sir Feran!” Izlude furrowed his brows and approached the boy with concern, “What is it, Dastan?” “Take a breath, boy! You’ll pass out from exhaustion!” the older gentleman demanded. Nodding, Dastan did as he was instructed and spared a minute to catch his breath before looking at Izlude fearfully, “Sir Dagonet Harrowgate has fallen. The Horn of the Gaian Spear is dead, Sir Feran!” Both men looked horrifically shocked, and turned to each other to exchange glances before looking back over at the boy, “Surely you jest, Dastan.” “No,” Dastan replied quickly before adding in, “…and I’m not that stupid to joke about something like this.” The elder man grunted disapprovingly at the remark, but let it slide given the obviousness of the words. “That means one of his apprentices will have to succeed him.” “That’s the thing…” Dastan jumped in and looked Izlude straight in the eyes, “Sir Feran’s been chosen as his successor.” It was hard enough to register the fact that Dagonet had fallen, but the next bit of news caused a level of mental numbness that Izlude hadn’t encountered since the death of Marie. For a moment he simply stood there, a blank expression of shock and confusion painted all over it. It was then that Dastan shouted at him, “Did you hear what I said, Sir?! You are our next Horn! You are the Horn of the Gaian Spear! You need to report to King Fontenot immediately!” With the words shocking him back to his sense, Izlude nodded and clapped the squire on the back of his shoulder. “Then I shall leave at once.” Turning around, he grabbed his spear and shield and headed inside, all the while wondering how the gods managed to plunk him into this situation. [Time Line Events] Year 214: Izlude Feran is born. Year 219: His mother, Loretta Feran, dies. Year 228: Squired to Sir Percival.
