Guy always enjoyed watching noblemen beat themselves senseless for no good reason, and the more noble, the better it was. He was not a man for violence, either carrying it out himself or watching it,but when it was knights and lords it had a certain charm. They foolishly pranced around swinging swords at each other or charged at each other on horseback. Guy's mind always went back to money, to resources, a man shouldn't squander his resources on meaningless fighting. There was little to be gained from these contests and so much to be lost. Nobody would expect him to fight, he was the Authority of Coin, from a house not terribly well respected (and he had done nothing to help that), but he was good with money and they begrudgingly accepted that.

While Guy never rarely raised his own hand in anger he had been known to hire others to do it for him. But violence was expensive, murder even more so, better to find more elegant solutions. As he watched the men battering each other he was genuinely shocked when he saw Jon Fitzwulf fall and not get back up. Word quickly went round that he was dead. Melees were very chaotic and it was hard to work out what happened. Guy did not think of the tragic death of the noble Jon Fitzwulf or have sympathy for his family, instead he thought about who would want to kill him? The Fitzwulfs were powerful and they had many enemies, it was a long list. If it was murder he was upset he had known nothing of it. As well as being an excellent moneyman, he was a man of plots and cunning. How had this passed him by?

Bruce did not like the Fitzwulfs, and he was no friend of Jon Fitzwulf, but he was his province lord and there was loyalty there of a kind. He couldn't think of too many people in Abrecht outside of the Fitzwulfs who would be sad about his death but it didn't sit well with Bruce. He was not one for politics and schemes, he was a direct man, but he couldn't help think that this was not an accident. There were risks in these fights but Jon Fitwulf wouldn't have been expecting someone to try and murder him. It was not a good death.

There was a good deal of commotion before the melee restarted, the men all seemed ill at ease as they faced each, but it only lasted a split second before the fight started again. Bruce's previous tactics had been to conserve his strength, and strike at the right opportunity to eliminate opponents. He decided to change his battleplan and struck out aggressively, determined to win.
