"I am a part of all that I have met."
Back to Civilization (7/10 - Garethe Mons)
It had been nearly three weeks since his mother passed away. To pass the time of his new life, Garethe spent considerable amount at the city center of Byrla. His generosity and former popularity due to his regional prowess at the tournaments once held regularly made his name echo through the crowd.
Garethe was shocked to hear of the current struggles taking place in Blasa. He was quickly brought up to speed after spending a little over nine years away from the gossip and street talk. At times, it was a bit much for Garethe to take in. All the heads of houses and majority of the living relatives they had Garethe knew. What was shocking was the drama and manipulation just in the past decade.
As the evening rolled in. Garethe would relax in the small grass area behind his mother's small keep. Brill, Garethe's hawk, would be nestled close due to the strong, heavy winds that Blasa was very well known for. Garethe was beside himself. He was torn as to how to live a life amongst the people. For so long he spent it away. Now, upon his return, those close to him had all passed on.
His decision should be easy for any to make in his situation being the cousin from the House of Mon's Lord Halford. With Garethe's reputation and experience, convincing Halford of a position as a petty lord of a small village or fort in Fura would be easy enough. The people surely seemed excited and almost convinced of such ideas.
It would be that easy if it wasn't for an item Garethe found amongst his mother's belongings. An item Garethe spent majority of his evenings using the moonlight as his guide to inspect the fine details as he circled it slowly between his thumb and fingers. Garethe was incredibly curious of his ancestry; specifically his father's. Since he was young he always wondered what his father's family was like, where they came from, and most importantly anything and everything about his father. Garethe knew inside the palm of his hand was the very ring that represented the crest of a house or more importantly the size of the signet ring suggested the head of household to the House of Yendorin.
Garethe could not remove the very thought of such an idea. Due to old letters he read after returning home, Garethe knew his father was a fisherman and he knew that through his, or his mother's travels they crossed paths at some point. The missing pieces is what Garethe was troubled by. Was Garethe an hier to the head of the Yendorin Household?
Garethe awoke startled by Stride's snort near his face, his brillantly, white coated horse. Garethe had fell asleep under the stars in mid-thought it had seemed. Garethe stood and stretched eying the signet ring one last time and placed it on his finger for safe keeping.
After cooking some pork for breakfast and enjoying the warmth he knew for the sake of such troubled times in Blasa that his ambitions as the head of his father's house was a journey for another day. As of right now; he needed Halford's audience for a discussion; yet Halford was miles and miles away. Garethe knew one very important man in Byrla that he met through serving under Lord Theodin. He was no other than House Mons bird trainer. What better way to get his point across swiftly!
