View Full Version : Starting Plans

As we are rapidly approaching the start time, with 12 posted profiles - 2 waiting approval - along with 8+ holds, I figured I would share our plans for starting:
First, there will be a tournament and banquet in Solbra (Aloris will be posting a proclamation for this soon). All characters (or most, if you house chooses not to attend that is perfectly acceptable) will be at court for the celebration. This is a great way to meet up with 'old friends' and do some networking among houses.
Then when that rp is over/ending we'll transition about a month in time to when everyone has made the return trips back to their regions (or someone elses if they'd like, or they can stay in Solbra) where we will continue the game.
Any other thoughts? plots? get started on discussing because we're gearing up to go!

I don't think so!!! If the KING says to be there, you say "What time, Your Grace?"
LOL! Anyhow, the tourney and the gala to follow will be a place that all characters will have the ability to show up to and interact. The tourney for the fighters/politicians and the gala for all social interactions. Of course, women can come and watch their men joust and whatnot, and everybody wants to dance and drink free mead, eh?
In all honesty, I don't think we have too many knights to be interested in dragging out the action of the tourney, but the gala will be something that everybody has reason to participate in.
I'll provide the reason for this gathering when the proclamation is posted. Everybody will have reasons to come, whether they be to support the current king, or to scheme, plot and find accomplices! LOL! Either way, should be some interesting RP! (damn, I almost said foreplay!) ha!

Awww... maybe we don't have knights, but don't lords get to dress up and joust with each other? I think it'd be fun to put all of our males in lovely jousting situations, since we seem to have no shortage of attractive ones... http://www.silversenshi.net/forsilvra/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
And anyway, then we really COULD call it foreplay! *ducks*
Is there going to be some kind of prize or reward that comes with the tournament? Something that might make it competitive, or especially advantageous to the winner?

I think our Lords could joust if they wanted. It seems that most of the Lords in our profiles did develop their battle skills and would fight on the front lines if war came to their province.
I looked up jousting and got a couple of things: http://www.middle-ages.org.uk/jousting.htm looks like money was the main prize, but we could have some fine wares as well - a sword, armor, etc. http://www.crusades4you.com/Medieval_Jousting.html
and here are the different types of events:
* Joust a plaisance Tournament - A series of elimination jousts over several days and an overall winner would be determined. Each Knight would run the lists three times with each opponent
* Pas d'armes or passage of arms Tournament - A Knight would send out a proclamation that he would take on all challengers at a specific time and place.
* Melee a pied Tournament - Teams of knights fighting on foot
* Melee a cheval Tournament - Teams of knights fighting on horseback

All, please see the tournament proclamation! Let's start having characters arriving in the city of Solbra (http://www.silversenshi.net/cgi-bin/silvra/ikonboard.cgi?act=SF;f=25) a few days in advance to get settled into the city, then we can get started with the Lords watching and/or participating if you'd like in the different events! Of course, get to plotting, because it'll be time to start building those alliances for when s*** hits the fan http://www.silversenshi.net/forsilvra/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
