Letter penned on the eighteenth of June from Pistra

Lord Severne,

Word from Nystra has reached my shores, though the situation is indeed more dire than I'd have imagined or feared. Plague has infiltrated the city's walls, and it is not from Lord Cromwell that I have received news of this but from his steward. The city is without a lord now, as both Lord Cromwell and his brother have been claimed by the illness. News of such has not yet been announced to the people as the steward fears the unrest that may break out because of it. He has written to me to send aid, and while he says he has also sent word to you, I am writing to let you know that I intend to lend some of my men to help maintain the peace in Nystra.

If you wish for me to do otherwise or if you have further instruction, I await your command.

Signed,
Lord Cael Devane, lord of Pistra

Letter penned on the twentieth of June sent to Pistra

Lord Devane,

Thank you for keeping me appraised of the situation in Nystra. I have not heard from the steward, so I assume the letter was lost somewhere. I commend you for taking such swift action to support the military there. I expect I will have a new lord named within the next few days and will send him quickly to Nystra to begin the transition. What has become of Lady Briar Cromwell? Has she been killed by the plague as well? If she lives, see to it that she is isolated and kept safe from the plague until it abates.

I have no further instruction for you beyond that other than what I have already requested. Thank you once again and continue to lend aid where you can.

Signed,
Lord Theodoric Severne,
Lord of Alska, Province Lord of Atra

Letter penned on the twenty-second of June from Pistra

Lord Severne,

I do not yet know of Lady Briar Cromwell’s condition. The steward did not inform me of her wellness or even if she suffered the same fate as her brothers. I shall immediately pen a letter to inquire after her and ask him to send his answer to you as well. My men left this morning and will let me know what the situation in Nystra looks like. My lord, I know it is drastic, but if the city is unsalvageable, my recommendation, though dire, may be to take drastic measures to purge the illness and prevent the spread of disease. My people are growing more and more nervous as news of the surrounding plague reaches their ears. I know it is important to consider the lives that might be lost, but it is perhaps more important to take into account the lives we will save by taking preventative measures.

Signed,
Lord Cael Devane, Lord of Pistra

Letter penned on the twenty-fourth of June to Pistra

Lord Devane,

I have sent a letter to the steward myself and expect a full report from him as well as from you after hearing from your men. I hate the thought of having to ‘purge’ a city, but if it saves more lives than it takes, then that is what must be done. I know I can count on you to carry out that order if it should come to that, for you have never once let me down. Let us remember that it is a last resort, and if the city can be saved, then let us strive for that outcome. There has been enough death.

Do what you can to alleviate the worries of your people. I understand how fear is in itself a plague, perhaps more deadly in some ways. But you are a capable leader, and I have faith you will be able to calm them. Because of your proximity to Nystra, it is especially important to enforce with extreme prejudice the halt on ships making port in your harbors. We must bring an end to this plague as soon as possible, and the best way to do that is to isolate it.

Signed,
Lord Theodoric Severne,
Lord of Alska, Province Lord of Atra
