Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 03:54 AM
Brielle was wearing a pink dress cut to make the most of her assets, but still serviceable for doing more mundane sorts of tasks, like ordering the servants around and making sure the house was in suitable order for dinner, and all of that nonsense. Which was why she was out in the gardens of course- so that she could be seen.
Her pale gold hair shone in the late sunlight- it would be dark in a few hours. But she was not worried about a few hours from now. She wasn’t even worried about how good she looked in that particular moment when her eyes caught on the figure who was the focus of her ire. Brielle headed straight for her cousin, eyes flashing as she came to a stop in front of Ashara. They were both in the easternmost corner of the Dragonhold grounds, that had been kept mostly as a novelty for the old kings, with a manmade pool, complete with fountain and a picturesque stream. It was a tiny little meadow, encircled by the walls- the perfect setting for many a courtly idyll. But right now courtly idylls were about as far from Brielle’s mind as it was possible to be.
“Give. It. Back.” She demanded, voice taught with fury. “Give it back this instant, sweet cousin, or on my soul I’ll make you regret it.”
Ashara
07-08-2011, 03:57 AM
Ashara’s brows rose as Brielle swept toward her with the air of an outraged swan. The lace trim on the dress made Brielle look like someone’s concept of purity personified, up until she opened her mouth. Ashara herself was wearing a brown linen cotehardie with little in the way of decoration, though its lines drew more than enough attention to the flare of her hips, which in reality there wasn’t much to be worked with, but the full skirts hid that fact.
“What are you on about, Bri? Did something of yours go missing? Was it perchance this soul you mentioned? I didn’t know you ever had one.” Ashara crossed her arms and faced Brielle without flinching. If her cousin thought she’d back down, well, she was mistaken to say the least.

“You damn well know it did,” Brielle hissed through gritted teeth, her voice low enough to not be heard, but it was only a matter of time. “You have it, and I want it back!”
Ashara
07-08-2011, 03:59 AM
“I have to know what I’m supposed to give over first,” Ashara replied coolly, without so much as a batted eyelash. She knew what it was Brielle was missing, but it was too much fun watching her cousin squirm. And really, had she expected Ash to forget that little stunt during the tourney? Hah.
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:00 AM
She was lying! To her face! The sheer, blinding nerve...
“Twelve hells!” Brielle’s hand lashed out, making contact with Ashara’s cheek a half-second later, hard enough that her palm stung with it. “Return it, or I’ll have your head.”
Ashara
07-08-2011, 04:00 AM
Ashara gasped and put a hand up to her reddening cheek, but when she lifted her eyes back to Brielle, her blue eyes were icy cold. “Touch me again and your father will be the first to see it... after I’ve strangled you.”
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:01 AM
Brielle’s eyes narrowed and she couldn’t hear anything but the rush of blood and rage through her. She didn’t even know what she was doing until she was already launched at Ashara, grabbing for her cousin’s hair. “BITCH.”
Ashara
07-08-2011, 04:04 AM
Ash yelped in surprise but wasn’t quite quick enough to get out of Brielle’s reach, and the sound sharpened considerably as Brielle's grip on her hair strengthened. She grabbed for Bri’s wrist and her right hand swept up, the back of it connecting solidly with Brielle’s cheek, before grabbing at the shorter girl’s hair and pulling viciously, and her foot swung out to Brielle's leg to knock her off balance.
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:09 AM
Brielle screamed when Ash caught her leg but if she was going to fall, fuck if she wasn't taking her cousin with her. Brielle grabbed for Ashara's arm as she went down, scrambling to get the advantage. Ash was taller and a damn lot stronger than she looked, but Brielle was hardly a weakling, which served to even it out at least a little.
She wrenched the hair she had in her hand, and kicked up with her own leg as she landed, succeessfully tangling Ashara's skirts.
Ashara
07-08-2011, 04:12 AM
Ashara shrieked when Brielle kept hold of her hair, and it forced her to bend, and the kick while not hurting that much, got her skirts tangled up around Brielle's foot and her feet and fucking hell this was why she never fought in a dress... A second later Ashara was hitting the ground hard and rolling, trying to get away from the fingernails and kicks Brielle was meting out.
Ashara's hand curled into a fist and landed straight in Brielle's midsection, more used to punching boys than clawing at girls. A second hit, and her finger got caught in the lace on Brielle's dress and there was a horrible ripping sound, though it was hard to hear over the screaming.
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:15 AM
"You fucking slut!" Brielle wasn't letting her roll anyway and threw herself over Ash's form, just in time to catch a punch to he midsection. The air left her lungs and she yelped, and her hand clawed down on Ash's exposed neckline, grabbing at the linen and pulling her back to let Brielle throw a punch of her own.
Christopher Mallory
07-08-2011, 04:16 AM
Well… And here he thought the evening would be boring.
At first he tried to ignore it. It was the proper thing to do… to not pay heed to the petty squabbles between young women. More than likely it was something as minor as Ashara stealing a stuffed toy. But as it kept going… back and forth… he couldn’t help it. It was like trying to pry your eyes away from a carriage crash. And it was… amusing, though he did his best to keep a smile off of his face.
“My money’s on the Velaryon…” Christopher whispered to Rhaegar.
Ashara
07-08-2011, 04:17 AM
She realized what was happening a second too late as they both rolled and tumbled into the pond. A splash and a variety of expletives out of Ashara's mouth, not helped by Brielle landing a punch on her ribs, which were still sore...
Ashara swung hard at Brielle's face in an arc of water and curse words. "You filthy tramp!"
Rhaegar
07-08-2011, 04:22 AM
Rhaegar watched the two girls tumble into the water and snorted. "I'd say it's an even match, so long as one doesn't drown the other. Who's been teaching them to throw punches is a better question? They aren't making any mistakes with the form... "
And it was really damn distracting now they were both soaking wet and still... well... it was entertaining anyway. "I'll take the bet. The other girl looks like she's managing."

There was no hiding how much he was enjoying the scene. But he was a soldier, not even a knight. Why should he have to mask how hilarious this was turning out to be? He did feel sorry for Ashara… She seemed a sweet girl, pity about not being more… well, available… and she had truly seemed to have no idea what the woman was accusing her of. Still, those sympathies were not enough to completely take away from the fact that he was rather enjoying this scene. The only way it could have possibly been better is if they were both nude… He’d have to store that mental image away for later.
Serai Forthwind
07-08-2011, 04:25 AM
The Forthwinds were all together making their way back to their chambers to freshen up before dinner. Arthur had demanded a full report of everything that had happened during his absence, and so another boring family meeting had played out over tea. It seemed like the day couldn't get any duller, when they heard shouts and a sudden splash from the courtyard. Without a second thought, Serai rushed to see what was happening. Arthur called after her in annoyance, but what she saw was too shocking to put into words.
She waved the rest of them over, not looking at whether they were coming or not. Was that...? No, it couldn't be! But it was.
Serai stifled a laugh, though she knew she ought to have been horrified. "Have I gone mad? Did they just...?"

Ashara's fist connected with Brielle's lip and she tasted blood, but it only made her angrier. She got her hand on Ash's neck and shoved down, hard. The water was making it ruddy hard to manage, with their dresses floating up and around them in all sorts of ways as the scrabbled at one another.
"Bloody horse-faced... slut...
Brynden Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:29 AM
He seemed to come out of his day dream a little too late and naturally feared who had been the cause of the commotion. Quickly, he looked around for Bradamar… It was not normally Brynden’s job to step in… And by that, he was not normally one who cared enough to do that. But damn it, Lord Mallory was standing in the courtyard, and Lord Rhaegar… Shit! A crowd was gathering. If it was Brielle or any one of the twins, he would have their heads… He pushed through the crowd and felt his face grow hot.
“BRIELLE!” he blasted, running forward, pissed that they were so thoughtless, and more pissed that now his clothes were going to be wet. The water splashed around his legs as he hurried in towards them, risking having a wayward punch strike him as he slid between them, arms going around Brielle’s waist to swing her around and away from his cousin. “ENOUGH! THAT IS… Damn it, Brielle, stop…”
Bradamar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:30 AM
Bradamar had been off on the other side of the garden when the commotion started, and turned in time to see his sister and ward go tumbling into the pond in a hail of expletives and thrown punches. Brady let out a long-suffering sigh and downed the rest of the wine in his goblet before he headed over to see-- Hells, Mallory was still bloody here. He overheard the exchange between Christopher and Rhaegar and his first wish was for more wine. Gods damned sister... why was it always Brielle? Had the Velaryons pissed off the gods that much?
"Ah, it's good to see the girls getting along," he commented to no one in particular. Let Brynden go fishing.
Arthur Forthwind
07-08-2011, 04:33 AM
"Serai, come back here right now. I was just--"
Arthur came up to yank her away, but the scene playing out in the water made him stop and gape. His hand was frozen halfway to his cousin's arm, and it was only after more screaming and fighting that the shock abated and he was able to change position. He closed his mouth as well, his lips twisting into a smirk.
"I'd say you've gone mad, cousin. Along with every other woman in this castle, it seems. Perhaps it has something to do with that odd Velaryon sigil frolicking about at every turn..."
Seeing them tearing at each other gave him a dark feeling of satisfaction. They really were idiots, these arrogant girls who thought so well of themselves. Whose house would have the poorer reputation now?
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:34 AM
Brielle howled in rage when Brynden tried to pull her off of Ashara and she proceeded to do her damnedest to fight them both at once, aiming an elbow back at her brother's solar plexus, and kicking out at Ashara, and doing a creditable impersonation of a pissed off wolverine in a wet pink frock.
Ashara
07-08-2011, 04:38 AM
She probably would have been laughing if she wasn't the one in the middle of a fight. Gods-damned dress... Brielle got hold of her throat and Ashara choked, then brought her leg up hard. Sensitive area for boys, but just as bad as a girl if you nailed it right.
But Brynden's interference spoiled the shot. Ashara sat up, barely avoided Brielle's foot hitting her face, and instead grabbed the offending leg and pulled hard.
Benedar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:40 AM
"Oh bloody buggering hells," Benedar swore. "WHO LET THEM AT THE WINE? Bloody bastards never listen to a fucking word... BRYNDEN GET HER OFF THE OTHER ONE." He gestured to his son with the wine goblet in his hand. "COME ON LAD, DONT LET A GIRL GET THE BETTER OF YOU."
Brynden Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:45 AM
Easy for him to say! He was not the one who’d just gotten nailed in both the gut and the nuts. He was breathless… wanting to vomit from the pain that racked his stomach from both blows… but the anger was greater. Slipping both of his hands beneath her shoulders, he clasped his fingers behind Brielle’s neck putting her in a grip that would make it nearly impossible for her to break. If he chose to tighten the grip, he could probably have her passing out in seconds if he wanted to thrash a bit. But that was not his intention, as much as he thought she deserved it.
“Feel free…” he grunted, shooting daggers at Bradamar, “To step in… any time!”
Tugging his sister to get Ashara to let go, he started slowly backing towards the edge of the pond. He realized he was leaving her open for shots… but damned girl deserved that, too.
Bradamar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:45 AM
Brady turned a quizzical look on his father. "You do know that's Brielle and Ashara, not the twins?" He'd had just enough wine that he saluted his brother with the empty goblet.
"You're doing a fine job, Bryn. Carry on."
Benedar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:48 AM
"I RUDDY DAMN WELL AM NOT THAT BLIND." He glared at his son then turned his attention back to the spare and the curse. "Or the twins got tits, either way."
Christopher Mallory
07-08-2011, 04:48 AM
Christopher could not help but to laugh now. “Well damn… That does complicate things. I suppose the bet is off now that there’s been interference.” He was vastly entertained but at the same time grateful. He would never again complain about his female cousins… Well, except that one. “Perhaps we should have somebody lend a hand?”
Trystane Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:48 AM
One of the pages came screaming the news, so Trystane and Agrivane promptly dropped their swords and hurried in from the training yard to see what was really going on. Their swift arrival did not go unrewarded either, because they came upon the pond just in time to see Ashara and Brielle sopping wet with water, with Brynden trying to haul his sister out kicking and screaming.
"We've got what?"
Though still winded from the run, Trystane had enough breath left to protest his cousin spoiling all their fun. "No, Brynden, let them have at it! It's not fair that we've missed most of the good parts already. At least they're getting some exercise."
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 04:51 AM
Brielle screamed and struggled harder. Ashara got her leg, but Bryn was pulling her back and there was the sound of ripping linen and Brielle's skirts tore straight up to reveal a good bit of her leg. She was more concerned with staying conscious and getting away from her brother, and to that end she kept kicking at Brynden to the best of her abilities, even though she was still snarling insults at both him and Ashara.
Vidanric
07-08-2011, 04:53 AM
Vidanric was probably laughing the hardest. He blamed the wine… “I would help, my lord… but I do value my… well, you know. Got to think of my future progeny of course,” he lied… Only Rhaegar would know that Ric had no intention of ever siring children. But that still didn’t mean he was in a hurry to take a shot between the legs. “It’s as Lord Bradamar said, Lord Brynden’s doing just fine.”
Rhaegar
07-08-2011, 04:54 AM
Rhaegar chuckled. "And ruin the... fun?" Damn, the Velaryon girl's dress was torn to shreds. It was a good look for her. "Someone's going to have a hell of a fun ride with that one," he commented softly to Chris.
Christopher Mallory
07-08-2011, 04:58 AM
“Oh… well, by all means. Can’t ruin the fun…” Christopher said, looking at the exposed leg. It was wet and there and… He tore his eyes away. Gods, he hoped his wife had not caught him staring like that. But he was a man, damn it! And she was a woman in a pond… wet… with her leg and… Damn it! He was staring again.
Ashara
07-08-2011, 05:01 AM
Ashara's vision was finally starting to clear, along with her head from the sort of foggy rage that had descended while they were fighting. Now she was sort of... horribly, sharply aware that her wet linen dress was clinging extremely well, with one shoulder entirely bare from a huge rip and she was positive she'd be showing as much leg as Brielle when she stood up... Oh, hells.
Brynden was draggin Brielle off and Ashara pushed herself up to her feet, shoving a mass of her soaked golden hair off her face... and realized they'd ended up with a crowd of bystanders. Alathia's mercy could she just... die now or something?
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 05:03 AM
Ashara started to stand up, and while the rage might have been clearing for her cousin, Brielle was still seeing pure scarlet. She fought against Brynden's hold that much harder, her legs arcing up and she used her heel to hit his knee and shin, and her other leg she lashed out at Ash with, a last shot...
Brynden Velaryon
07-08-2011, 05:08 AM
“Fuck it,” he growled when the pain shot through his shin. He pulled tighter, twisting fast to one side and then the other. He didn’t care anymore… It’d be easier to carry her if she was unconscious anyway.
Ashara
07-08-2011, 05:09 AM
Ashara saw the kick and had time to get her arm up to block it, and delivered a shot to her cousin's middle in retribution but she was off balance and the heavy material was pulling down on her.
Struck by the total absurdity of the entire scene, the Lord of Svavel, her uncle drunk and yelling, and all the others... Ashara started laughing. "Truce, Bri. I--" But she stopped, seeing what Brynden was about. Well, that solved it too.
"Well, that's done."
Brielle Velaryon
07-08-2011, 05:12 AM
Brielle yipped once, and went limp as Brynden twisted her. The edges of her vision went dark and she gasped trying to get enough air. "Bryn.. enough... Bryn!" But it was a losing battle against unconsciousness.
Bradamar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 05:14 AM
"And this is why women shouldn't offer prayers to the gods of war when they're pregnant," Bradamar muttered.
"WELL DONE, BRYN. Tamed the wild beasts!" He raised his glass and beckoned to the waiting servants. "A toast to the brave!"
Ashara
07-08-2011, 05:17 AM
Half of them are half-mad and the other half are worse- the old refrain went through Ashara's head and she sighed. Welcome to Atranta.
"I'm... going to go change my dress," she informed Brynden. "Thank you for the assistance." She added a half-mocking curtsy to the group of watching lords, as if it had all been a bit of mummery, and turned to head off toward the door. The sooner she got out of here, the lesser the chance of actually having to see Maldren right now...
Serai Forthwind
07-08-2011, 05:18 AM
Serai watched the fight play out in a daze. She still couldn't believe what she was seeing. If she and Melari had acted this way in Denra, their parents would have had them whipped and emptying their own chamber pots for a month. The men flocked around the two girls as though they were watching a rather good show, and finally Serai was able to summon up the resolve to act.
She made her way forward, though she kept a safe distance from the water. The poor Velaryon lord who'd tried to intervene was obviously having very little luck, short of rendering his sister unconscious. But that wouldn't get at the root of the problem. She gave Ashara a look of disbelief.
"Lady Ashara, I am in shock. What could have happened to make you two quarrel so... fiercely?" It was the only word Serai could summon up on such short notice, but it fit well enough. "Oh dear, yes, you really will both be needing new dresses..."
Ashara
07-08-2011, 05:23 AM
Ashara had to stop and looked back at Brielle, who was now well out of the realms of the waking. "Apparently something of Brielle's is missing and she thought I took it." Ashara shrugged. "From there it was a shove and fall into the pond."
She laughed and had to adjust her hold on the shoulder of her dress. The skirt... seemed to be missing a chunk, gods knew how. "Welcome to Atranta, m'lady. Care to help me to my room? It's going to take a bit of doing to keep this shoulder from falling down."
Rhaegar
07-08-2011, 05:26 AM
Golden blond, soaking wet, and curves in what were undoubtedly the right places. "Any chance they'll make this a new fashion, Chris?" He asked his cousin. Damn. Both of them were... well, he was glad he wasn't going to have to try to pull any of the lords in the garden off to battle. In fact there was a distinct air of disappointment that the scene was over and the dresses would be replaced.
Serai Forthwind
07-08-2011, 05:29 AM
Serai gave the sopping wet girl a skeptical look. "It certainly doesn't lack for excitement, does it? I'll be careful of standing too near to fountains from here on out." She winkled her nose at the mess the water and the clawing had made of the dress, then nodded emphatically. "Yes, I certainly won't let you go alone. You'll need someone to help brush out your hair before dinner, too, and--" She cast a look back at Lady Brielle, being carried like a sack of horse feed by her brother. "But perhaps it may be best if you dined away from your cousin tonight, I think..."
Benedar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 06:14 AM
Benedar rolled his eyes. "RUDDY HELL BRYNDEN. GET HER TO HER ROOMS AND STOP LOLLYGAGGIN ABOUT LIKE A RUM-ADDLED SQUIRE! God damn boy, you just vanquished your sister, not a Castell army. Go on, up you get! MORE WINE!"
Melari Forthwind
07-08-2011, 11:20 AM
Melari could only stare.
She, of course, didn't find the situation humorous-- Ashara was getting hurt, and the girls were fighting like wildcats in a pond, and there was a crowd watching, and the men looked very interested. Rhaegar looked interested.
Mel lowered her eyes, feeling very inadequate in comparison to the two perfect blondes, but when her sister moved forward she followed. She couldn't trust herself to speak, at first, but Serai seemed to have the talking covered so Mel said nothing at all until her twin finished. "I'll help too."
And she would. Someone would have to mend that dress.
Brynden Velaryon
07-08-2011, 11:32 AM
Would it be out of the question to walk up to his father and punch him? Of course it would be… and the satisfaction of so doing would be short lived… So he would have to just keep to imagining it. Taking the limp Brielle more firmly in his arms, he hoisted her over his shoulder and looked at Ashara, only half listening to her. It was a shame about that personality of hers, because truly she was a vision… wet, her dress clinging to her leaving very little to the imagination, his eyes settling on his cousin as he looked at her in a way he’d never really seen her before. And then his father was yelling, pulling him out of his less than pure thoughts and he gave a bit of a mock bow and salute, turning on his heel to take Brielle out of there.
Lynesse Velaryon
07-08-2011, 11:35 AM
Lynesse arrived just as Brynden was removing a rather bedraggled, sopping wet, formerly angry Brielle from the scene. Casting a glance at Ashara, who was also spotting the very same look, then to most of the men present with lustful gleams in their eyes, she covered her face with her palm. If the feast wasn't bad enough, this was worse.
Way to go, Brielle. Way to cause a stir. Again. When will you learn that this is not the way to get what you want?
Like a silent shadow, she walked over to Brady, looking up at him as if to say, "look what you did." She did not look happy, and if she was already not mortified enough, it appeared that the dreadful Forthwind boy was amused by the whole thing. "Where shall I hide from Brielle's anger now, cousin? In my room, or in some random woodsman's hut?" She hoped her cousin got the point.
This was a situation where it was best she not get caught assuaging either girl. She would have to live with both, and as someone who did not fancy being put in the middle in the first place. It was bad enough with the twins. With Brielle and Ashara, it would be much, much, much worse. As the Forthwind twins left to dress Ashara, she was left behind, feeling very much scandalised.
Bradamar Velaryon
07-08-2011, 11:53 AM
Well, at least Ashara may have saved him the trouble of beating Brielle bloody for that little stunt. Watching his cousin walk off with the Forthwind twins... now that was an interesting picture. The shapely blond flanked by a matched set of brunettes... it'd been something discussed a bit during the tourney too, when she'd had them as her court...
Bradamar got his thoughts back to less dicey matters and put a hand on Lynesse's shoulder. "Don't worry about Bri, coz. Once she wakes up she'll be mad at Brynden first and the rest of us second." He shook his head and took another drink. "I wonder what in the hells set her off. Ah well..."
He raised his voice a bit to get Christopher and Rhaegar's attention, along with the various other courtiers in attendance. "Sadly, the impromptu entertainment's at an end, my lords, but if anyone else cares to set up a match, now's the time."
Lynesse Velaryon
07-17-2011, 07:07 PM
Wincing from the still healing bruise that her brother gave her on the shoulder, Lynesse shook her head, removing his hand from her shoulder with distaste. "Cousin, this is an issue you really should attend to. I have no power. You have a great deal of it. Do something good with it." The bruise was still visible on the edges in shades of ugly yellow green.
With that, she turned on her heels and left, shaking her head. Perhaps there would be respite in the solar.
