View Full Version : My Whole World Is Changing | 6.12, morning | Belle, OPEN

Belle sat in one of the palaces courtyards, staring at a sundial as though it would help make time go by faster. She felt... overhwelmed and she would never let her sister know it, but she was incredibly jealous. And scared. But mainly jealous. There was something about Athena that made it so easy for her to just... get everything. Athena was not even of age yet and she was already wed, was allowed to remain on Glodhet and pregnant. And here she was, twenty one years old already and she was not even betrothed. She knew that the older she got, the less men would want her.
Although Belle despised the idea of marriage and the responsibility that came with a baby, a small part of her liked the idea of being the weak link in one of the Shadowmere branches even less. She felt as though her days were just going by and that she had lost all control of it. Even Lanius could be married soon and then where would she be? The thought of leaving Glodhet for marriage was terrifying, but being left behind... well, that was so much worse.

It had still been less than a month, and whilst another person might have felt homesick by now about being so far from familiar surrounds, Elysia was still having far too much fun. Life on Glodhet was different enough to what she had become accustomed to in Sanka to keep her suitably occupied and entertained. She was still taking a particular delight in the dresses. They were so much lighter than the heavier layers she was used to, and she enjoyed the resulting sentiment of freedom that they gave. Indeed, she could not help but swish her skirts every now and then- taking due care, of course, to ensure that no one else was peeping.
She was moving through one of the courtyards when she spotted Belle seated there, staring at the sundial, seemingly either lost in thought, or keeping an eye on the time. Possibly both, although the latter of the original two options seemed incredibly boring and dry. If that really was the case, however, then it was a situation easily remedied. Besides, it would probably be a good thing to become better acquainted with others of the Shadowmere family, given how they were now also her own.
"Were you waiting for someone?" She stepped up, a smile forming easily on her face. "Or might I join you." She wouldn't settle down on the off-chance that the answer was 'no.'

"Oh!" Belle jumped a little, startled, when she heard the soft voice appearing to her right. She looked up and then promptly put on a polite, if somewhat surprised, smile. "Oh, no, I was not waiting!" she said immediately, wondering at the same time what she could discuss with the new Shadowmere and appear interesting.
"There's room enough for another," she said, smiling even though inside she was frozen. To Belle socializing was not second nature, she was not like Athena. She had not given any thought to Elysia Shadowmere, except when she imagined what it must be like to be married to Lazarus - but she expelled those thoughts from her mind rather quickly. She figured that it had to be nothing but terrifying. Given that, she felt that Elysia was doing quite well. She was surprisingly resiliant. "How are you enjoying Glodhet?"
It seemed to be the safest thing to ask and she was actually interested in the answer. The woman was an Ashpool and the weather in Sanka was less humid as far as she had heard.

Ely felt a little guilty that she had seemingly startled the other woman, though the hint of a worried frown soon subsided beneath the blossoming of a smile. She was glad to hear that Belle would not mind sharing her company, and took a seat beside her; close, but not close enough to be uncomfortable, or creepy. Hopefully.
"Oh, it's wonderful. Surprisingly so, actually." Elysia replied to Belle's question, and really she meant every word. Sure, she had not been overly receptive to the idea upon the original announcement of her marriage, but her initial discontent had now settled substantially. Glodhet was proving an adventure, with something of intrigue at every turn. "I love the clothes, and I hear the parties are fantastic." And she was looking forwards, so very very much, to one of those.
"It's hard to believe that I dreaded coming here once." She went on, something of a ponderous undertone finding its way into her voice. "I mean, what is there about Glodhet that one could not possibly enjoy?" Plenty, perhaps. Such as the entire assassin thing. Or having strange women claiming to be your husband's mistress entering into your rooms...

Belle was surprised at the other woman's enthusiasm. She did not think that she would be nearly half as positive about moving across the country. She wondered again how Lazarus was treating Elysia. Obviously not horribly.
"The weather must come as a shock to you. I've never been outside of Glodhet, but I heard that Sanka is not as warm." Come to think of it, this woman had seen more of the world than she had.
"Our parties are fantastic," she said, a bit of Faetan pride showing in her voice as she spoke.
Her smile faltered a little when she heard what Elysia said next, but she just shrugged. "I suppose so." But she knew that there were things on Glodhet that were less than enjoyable. Elysia had obviously never seen the darker side of Faeta, of Glodhet. No wonder she thought that it was all wonderful.

Having a sunny outlook was preferable to moping around all angry and depressed. Elysia had been down that road before, and it had proven to be nothing less than horrid. Her own family had kept their distance, lest they fall subject to one of her then-frequent outbursts, and throughout the veritable tempest of her raging emotions, she had constantly found herself alone. It was hardly a place that she wanted to find herself caught within, again.
"I suppose it was a bit of a shock." Elysia agreed, the index finger of one hand touching lightly to one side of her lips. "I was told a little of how it would be before I came, though, and besides, I like to think of it as an adventure." She smiled, canting her head, golden locks spilling to one side. "Better that than to think of everything I've had to leave behind." Although she did miss them- each and every one of them- dearly.
Seeing Belle's own smile falter, however, Elysia paused, the slightest little frown marring the smoothness of her face.
"Is something the matter?" She asked, concerned. She certainly hoped that she had not managed to offend the other woman, somehow.
