Unsettled was the perfect word for how Serenna felt. She was six days away from her family and she felt the loss like a cord being pulled taut, ready to snap. Never did she think she would ache the way she did for the loss of them, and never did she think that she would be so frightened by change.
Right now, in order to settle her stomach, though she'd had no real trouble aboard the ship, she ventured down into the galley to fetch an apple or a piece of bread. She was hungry and it would be a while yet before any meal.
She'd done a grand job of being a ghost. She had avoided the others as much as possible, especially her soon to be father in law. The man frightened her, simply because she had no idea of how to deal with him, truthfully. If his son was anything like he was, she was damned before she started.
The wig she wore itched, uncomfortable as all hell, and she had avoided wearing it as much as she could. She had feigned worse sickness than she felt, so unfortunately it led to her not receiving the best of meals for fear of upsetting her stomach. Right now, though, since she was moving about, she kept the wig on and she reached up to itch at one of the pins as she sighed. Stepping around the corner and into the galley, she froze as a dark shape came into view in front of her.
Her eyes went wide and she froze. Damn.
