Valencia directed the servants with her trunks, or what was left of them. Some of them had been damaged in the coup on the ship, but thankfully most of the things that she wanted to take were in the trunks that had returned from Forsilvra. All her Forsilvran styled clothes, many of which still fit fine. The rest of what she had to pack were a few sentimental things, gifts from her father, remembrances of her sisters, and the like. As much as she had come to love Glodhet, she couldn’t see herself returning there any time soon.
It might be her last time on the sea for awhile, so she made sure to sail as much as possible in the week since her conversation with Costayne. She felt uneasy here, with all eyes on the Renates, and she counted down the days before the Sanseverino ship would arrive to take her home.
They had received word this morning that it would be arriving shortly, hence the last minute preparations. She went out to the docks to wait, it was not as if she needed to but she needed the outdoors to think. She saw the ship, flying the banners of Sanseverino, pulling towards the docks and her attendants started to get to work boarding the ship with her things as soon as it was ready.
Valencia took a deep breath before she got on, looking back at what she once thought would be her home. She repeated to herself that there was nothing for her there, not now, not now that the people of Glodhet so violently rejected the idea of peace. Only death awaited her here, these days. The news of her stepmother’s death reached her, and reinforced her decision. But it didn’t take away all her reluctance. She still felt something looking out amongst the city, that would have made itself great.
