The smell of the salt and the sea rolled over her as Jacques stroked her legs, and up her body. She smiled up at him, her hand reaching out to touch his cheek as his finger tips rose up her sides and over her shoulders. They stopped lightly at her neck, and then the image wavered and it was no longer her lover, but her brother, Cyprien, bloodied, cut, tortured, his eyes burning with rage as his hands wrapped around her neck.
"WHORE! STUPID TRAITOROUS WHORE! YOU LET THEM KILL ME! YOU LET ME DIE, YOU BITCH!" he yelled at her as he choked her, shaking her as if wringing her neck. She clawed at his hands gasping for air. She shook her head. "I'm sorry, Cyp... I'm sorry..." she gasped as she tried to take in air, her body bucking to get him off her so she could breathe.
He didn't let up and all she could do was claw at his hands... claw at his hands... "I'm sorry Cyp... I'm sorry...."
She awoke with a gasp, bolting straight up in her bed. "CYPRIEN!" his name was a cry on her lips. She gasped, taking in deep lungfuls of air, feeling dizzy as it made its way into her system. A nightmare... it had been a nightmare... Her instinct was that of a child, to go to her big brother's room (any of them, but Aloys or Cyp usually) and crawl into the bed so they'd protect her from the big bad dream... but there were no protections for her anymore. Her brothers were gone, leaving her to fight her dragons alone. Always alone.
Valencia was leaving, Lyra and Athenase were leaving, Illiana was leaving, and Lex was closing herself off from feeling anything because that was the only thing she could do. Only she was left. Only Stella.
She hugged her knees to her chest, letting the despair wash over her like the waters of sea crashing against the rocks. She felt buffeted by the storm. None of her supposed friends could help her now. She couldn't appear weak out there, out where they could see her, but here, in her bed, behind her bedcurtains, in her sleepcovers... she became the lost little girl once more, letting her heart bleed for all that she had lost, for all her family had lost. She wept bitterly, sobs racking her body as she rocked back and forth, hugging her knees. She wept until she could weep no more, tired and worn out. She fell back, whispering apologies as she fell into a dreamless sleep...
